I enjoyed Cobie Smulders appearing on Shrinking, definitely has chemistry with Jason Segel. Slightly took me out of the scene, but I quickly got over it. Agreed it's a good thing there's two extra episodes this year.
To use your own phrasing, if this newsletter had nothing but "Dexter Babies," dayenu!
What a tragic time when some of the best television is coming to a close- equally thrilled from the slightest lean into Iceland from Samantha at the end of Somebody Somewhere as I am by the culmination of Nandor and Guillermo's dynamic. Both shows seem miraculous to have aired at all, and right now it feels like there's a real void in entertainment. What am I supposed to do, focus on the real world? Yikes.
Applaud your inclusions of Vince Vaughn and Allison Janney in your Top Ten Performances. Vaughn made every episode very watchable, even when the show was treading water, and Janney elevated The Diplomat so much that I was actually disappointed she didn't show up a lot sooner.
I definitely have not seen all the performances so I can't say anyone is lesser but I'm shocked that Andrew Scott didn't get in there for Talented Mr. Ripley.
Yes, the pathos in this episode of WWDITS!! I adored it and it was so unexpected. But we really needed that reconciliation. There were still several jokes so hilarious I rewinded them to watch them again. G's mouthing "culture fit" when Jordan is talking to Nandor mid-episode - so hilarious to me. Harvey Guillén has been kind of the unsung hero of the show and I've always been such a Gizmo fan. I can't wait to see what he does next.
I can’t believe Somebody Somewhere is over. I don’t guess viewership is that high, but online engagement seems to be. I’m happy we got three seasons, but dang, I’ll always wish we had more time with those characters.
I loved Somebody Somewhere so very much, but I wish Joel hadn’t used the expression “my person,” b/c it’s most known origin is Gray’s Anatomy which used it relentlessly, so it unfortunately pulled me from the scene a bit. A small quibble though, for such a beautiful show. Wish it could go on forever.
I thought about that, too, but even if you give Grey's credit for popularizing the term, it's been 20 years, and is in common enough usage that Shonda shouldn't own it forever.
How about the fact 5 of your top ten are from Apple TV. It is my number one streamer for quality right now!!!
Apple TV is the king of mid-TV - with a few notable exceptions: Severance, Slow Horses and the first season of The Afterparty.
As much as I would love Somebody Somewhere to go on forever, I thought that was a lovely and satisfying end.
The timing of the last little bit and the cut to credits was so perfect, I applauded.

First Dime Eyes kissing Ellie, now Scherbatsky making eyes at Marshall? What's going on with this show?
But yes, Segel and Smulders definitely have chemistry. And I'd love to see her not be wasted like her last MCU appearance.

YESSSSSSS TED MCGINLEY. Literally every single time he enters a scene on Shrinking, I know that it's going to be a home run.
(Jeff Hiller, not Joel Hiller!)
Dammit, thank you. Fixed.
Oh I didn’t know that there was two more shrinking, great news

I suppose, I just wish it wasn’t burned into my brain from 2005.
